IP (or “Ingress Protection”) Ratings are defined levels of sealing effectiveness of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies (tools, dirt, etc.) and moisture by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures.
The higher the number, up to 6 for dust protection and 9k for moisture protection, the more sealed and environmentally resistant your light will be.
